After the phone call with Henry, Betty’s sense of confidence was much brighter.
Betty realized there was a lot more she could do for the business if she put her mind to it. By Henry empowering her, she felt she was capable and his trust gave her the edge to think beyond. Betty imagined a better way to cost effectively coordinate and manage document sharing and meetings as she scrubbed the last of the dinner dishes. She gazed admiring her family and her sweet husband Bob waiting for her to finish and start their movie night.
Bob was a successful software engineer, so Betty decided to utilize his expertise. She asked to “schedule” time on his calendar for a consult, after hours and off the books of course. Bob, was happy to help pro bono. He knew and liked Henry very much and wanted nothing more than to see his wife happy and Henry’s business thrive.
Betty thought it best to schedule the meeting after the upcoming presentation, this way there would be no immediate distractions or time pressure to fluster examining Bob’s suggestions and business options fully. She put it on the calendar for the Saturday after the big presentation. If they found a solution right away she could help implement the software before another project started up. Henry always had multiple irons in the fire, but no balls in the air until each final presentation was completed, then the office was in flurry mode again. She wanted to nip that in the bud.
The next day, Betty let Henry know what she was planning and the meeting invite arrived just in time on his calendar. Henry was grateful to Bob for offering to share his expertise and knew that his business was on its next cycle of growth and due for some upgrades. The timing could not have been more perfect. Henry really admired Betty for this. She had great timing and intuitive sense of approach. He was very glad they were a team.
Betty made sure that each person with critical pieces for the presentation were on the calendar over the next week and in front of Henry with their material. Anyone else was to go through her before disturbing Henry. She blocked out his calendar and routed “all” his phone calls to her desk. Henry would be distraction free and everyone could wait, even the partners, until the final presentation was completed. Betty loved manning the gate. Those last few days proved to be extremely productive and Henry looked pleased at the end of a long week.
Betty could now relax on the mountain get-away with her family and came back refreshed and rejuvenated. Monday, arrived with the presentation ahead and a sound determination to win this bid. Winning the bid would mean a large contract with longevity. Monday blasted to Wednesday AM with boots lined up and ties knotted, the presentation team loaded into the limo car. The driver, Ed all too familiar with the “look”, kept his lips tight and eyes on the road. This wasn’t one of Henry’s usual travel trips. Betty had reiterated the importance of arriving early and confirmed directions with Ed prior to picking them up.
Betty chose Professional Livery Worldwide out of many car services due to the history of excellent reviews from business professionals, siting the drivers were always on time and delivered high quality punctuality to their arrival destinations. Again, one of Betty’s many Office Administrator qualities, finding excellent resources for each occasion.
Henry and his team were in exemplary form and won the bid. The contract email and electronic files began to arrive immediately and the team hadn’t even returned yet! None the less, Betty was ready and so thrilled for Henry. Her Saturday meeting was going to be even better than she thought. She planned to drop the kids off at the local recreation center that also hosted party rooms and meeting space. The gig had engulfed to a celebration and her hands were full.
Betty grabbed the phone and started dialing. She lucked out from a cancellation and reserved the party space for 4 hours and the meeting room for 2 hours. She put the invite on everyone’s calendar and included the home email so spouses would know in advance they were invited. Betty called her secret agent to event planning partner Nancy Nachman, 480-991-4125 at The Meeting Concierge www.meetingsconcierge.com to lend her a hand at coordinating the celebration. Betty explained the location advantages and Nancy took it from there. All Betty needed to do was send the guest list, agenda and contact of the facility.
